Baltimore Mission Trip 2016 - Day 2

The light of Jesus Christ SHINES out of the darkness.  This central theme rang through our entire day today as we experienced a Sunday like none other!  We all went to school today, learning the culture of the three different churches we are working with this week.

Morning worship with Pastor Tally Wilgis was amazing at Captivate Towsen.  His message on being On Mission was exactly what our team has been learning for the past month.  It was great to hear a message of how to be On Mission in all aspects of our lives.  From Towsen, we traveled to Captivate East.

Captivate East was met with a STARK difference from Captivate Towsen.  Captivate East (Colleen Smith) is in the heart of Inner City Baltimore, whereas Towsen is like North Dallas!  We spent the entire afternoon preparing for VBS, decorating, studying and laughing a lot.  While the VBS team was preparing, Keith took 5 men into the neighborhood for a time of Prayer Walking.  This hour was Spirit-led and transforming.  We prayed with and shared the Gospel to a couple at a street corner, then walked to a stoop and shared VBS invitation with a family, prayed over street corner after another, then we were drawn to loud music.  BLOCK PARTY!!  We spent the rest of our time sharing our story with over 100 people and kids, inviting them all to the VBS this week.  God used this time for His Glory - what a great afternoon.

Not over yet...Then we sprinted over to Church of the Harbor (Jeff Belcher) for an evening service with them.  Exciting!  We got to put out chairs because there were so many people there.  Worship was tremendous, and our lesson on Mark 14-15 was great!

We ended our day with making lunches together for tomorrow and meeting with Charlie Brown to prepare for Sports Camps with Graffiti Church in the morning.

Yes we are spent and yes, we are having a blast. Please continue to pray as God uses us to come alongside our friends here in Baltimore to be used by Him for whatever He wants us to do!  Thanks for your prayers!
